There are tons of ways that you can find writing jobs online, but a lot of the time it exposes you to scams, and other negative sides of the business that you probably never even knew about before.  That’s always the danger, and you’re going to find that it’s a very real risk when you’re applying to jobs constantly.  But there’s plenty that you can do to spot a scam too, as long as you know what to look for.  The scammers aren’t so smart they can fool a real writer, so you just have to keep the following in mind:

• If a job looks too good to be true, you have to be skeptical.  Usually if you’re getting a lot of money for a gig, it’s because you’re putting in a lot of work, or you have a lot of experience to bring to the table. If a job seems really simple but will pay really well, then always check them out before blindly trusting the company.
• Do your research in general.  Always Google the company if you can.  That’s vital, so that you can make sure they’re known for legitimate transactions.  Usually it’s pretty easy to tell if someone is shady, because they are going to show up with other writers talking about how they’ve been scammed.
• Always go through a service that you can trust.  That means a company that you know other writers use.  That way you can make sure the jobs are legitimate, in abundance, but also that you’re protected.  That’s why a good subscription service can be invaluable.

These are just some of the tips that can really help.  While they seem pretty simple, you will find that they make a huge difference in the long haul.  Just being smart can go an extremely long way, and you’ll be truly impressed.  Nobody wants to get scammed, and nobody wants to put all that time and effort into a project just to see nothing of it.

That’s why you have to look out for yourself.  If you don’t look out for yourself, who’s going to do it for you?  That’s the problem when it comes to scammers, you have to be able to spot them yourself.  But just those tips will really help, and will really work out in the long haul for you!
